Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk Fundraiser, June 29, 2008
Over 350 people visited GayLee Stables on Sunday, June 29, 2008, to support our Fundraiser. We want to thank all our friends, family and neighbors who donated items for the silent auction and raffles.

Thank you to the volunteer's who cooked 100 cheeseburgers, 80 hotdogs, and passed out cases of cold drinks and bags of chips. To the volunteer's who gave over 100 children pony rides. To Mikayla for face painting over 100 children's faces. And to all the people who dropped donations in our jars to help support the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk.

Thank you to the volunteers who sold hundreds of raffle tickets and baked sale items to support the 3-Day Cancer Walk.

Thank you to those of you who made cash donations, bid on silent auction items and purchased raffle tickets.

We can't thank everyone enough.

1943 Stearman biplane open cockpit

GayLee Stables is holding an Open House Fundraiser to benefit the 2008 Boston 3-Day Cancer Walk. Roberta Byington, the walker, boards her horses at GayLee Stables. Byington is joining thousands of others for the Boston Breast Cancer 3-Day, 60-mile walk benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

To be auctioned off during the open house benefit, Steve Burns of Hampton Falls, has donated a 20-30 minute ride along the NH Seacoast in his Stearman open cockpit, military trainer biplane previously used by the Tuskeegee Airmen in preparation for WWII. The Hampton Falls Volunteer Fire Department has offered a ride in their fire engine.

Many other business's and individual's have donated items and gift certificates to be raffled and auctioned at the benefit. GayLee Stables is donating 10% of the proceeds of all horse sale's to the 3-Day walk.

The open house will offer pony rides, riding lessons, face painting, bake sale, raffles, auction items, food and drinks, and many other fun activities for young and old alike. Raffle and auction items will be listed on this website in the next week.

Pavana and 2008 colt
On June 4th 2008, Pavana foaled an outstanding colt by VDL Prestige. This is a repeat breeding of last year's filly Phanciana and we are equally as pleased with the results. Poetic Justice aka: PJ, named after Pavana's Dam Lady Justice is perfect in every way. Pavana will be bred back to VDL Prestige for 2009.

2008 Summer Riding Workshops
Come join the fun! GayLee Stables is now offering a fun and exciting summer workshop which teaches children how to care for horses while improving their riding skills. Workshops run throughout the summer with a choice of dates:
JULY 14-17 ~ JULY 28-31 ~ AUGUST 4-7 ~ AUGUST 18-21
Each week's program runs Monday-Thursday from 9-3. Students will be assigned a horse each day and will receive 1-2 lessons each day. After riding there will be a daily discussion and lesson on the different topics which then will be applied, hands on for the remainder of the day. There will also be games, treasure hunts, nature walks,arts and crafts and other fun activities relating to information being studied. Items covered include: Stable care for horses and daily barn management, good grooming techniques, learning the different types of equipment and tack and which types of horses it is used on, how to tack up and keep tack clean, safety around horses and the barn, general first aid for the horse and rider, and how to prepare for a horse show.
GayLee Stables has a wide range of horses to match every skill level from beginner to experienced. The beginner will be matched with a mount that will build confidence, while the intermediate and advanced riders can enjoy the challenge of working with show horses.
If you can't arrive by 3:00 to pick up your child, for a small fee of $20. per hour we can give your child some additional horse experience in the late afternoon helping with evening chores until you get here. However, you must pick up your child no later than 6:00 pm.
Due to the difference is diet restrictions we request parents provide their child with a lunch and snack for each day. Please no carbonated soft drinks. Bottled water or gatorade drinks only.
The cost of the week long program is $450 per child per week. All applications must be received by June 20 in order to secure a place for your child. Congratulations to Lisa Brown Kucharski on the purchase of Lola, aka: Justa Summer Fling. Lisa purchased Lola's 2005 colt Devito by Donarweiss but she just couldn't wait three years to see what it would be like to ride him! When Lisa's dressage mount Kodak needed a couple months off this winter Lisa started riding Lola. The two had so much fun taking dressage lessons with Karen Monks-Reilly Lisa decided she needed to buy Lola. The general concensus of opinion of everyone who has seen Lisa and Lola together is they are the perfect team! At the Wentworth Hunt Club Dressage Show at UNH Lisa and Lola placed third at Training Level. Their first show! Way to Go! Update! 2008 will see Lisa and Lola showing at third level dressage! You may also see them at the Wentworth Hunt in the fall.

Molly ridden by trainer Kristen Newton was 2005 circuit champion at HITS in Saugerties and the Vermont Summer Festival. She was also the 2005 Zone 1 Champion. Molly aka: Lanciana a registered Westfalen mare by Lanciano/Lord was imported by GayLee Stables as a yearling and sold to Erin as a three year old. The weathervane on our barn and our logo was designed after Lanciana!

Nantucket Bay aka: Tucker, 2001, registered Selle Francais gelding by Candidus out of Sara was bred by GayLee Stables and purchased by Roni Bartolini as a yearling. Roni carefully brought Tucker along as a hunter prospect sending him to Bob Orton and Sherra Kosch as a three year old to be started under saddle.
